Vl1 & 2 Predictions & Discussion

So lets chat what this page is about then, VL1 - Cant look past Kew, surely not seeing finals actions for the last 2 years and managing to hold their players plus the return of Tom and local boy Danny now playing they will be a strong well rounded team, the injection of 2 PL players along with their English guy should go well, scoring will be helped with Danny on board now even at 40 years old.

West Vic - talk about flying under the radar - they are in the market, they have signed the Australian Country 21s captain, and word is they are making sure that people are well looked after worth a crack the tick the boxes and HV love to see a country side back in PL surely. With the Uni year about to commence its been mentioned they have 2 players from QLD that played QLD 21s and there for Uni.

Are Brunswick getting players back from Footscray ? Gippsland no coach, and International player not returning. Casey you cant ever say they wont be there strong team but might struggle as starting late. Its all in Kew's hands, they have had so many walk up starts to PL but they just keep slipping, it must have crushed them to see Casey go then Melb Uni, 12 months later and lets not talk about last year.

Vic League 2 - Who watches this? Plenty of talks about Hux from Werribee (CV Blazers and Werribee have to be up there) seriously what is clear is this guy has morals to stay at his club, pity other players don't see the same. Last year first year coach after not really having good coaches for some time out that way. Old Xavs lock them in as top of table for most of the year, Richo was the last coach that had Brunswick playing finals, and really this is the level that best suits Old Xavs.

Bayside, who are they and where are they even located and why are they being discussed ? Have they not been straight up and down in the past already, yes they have a coach (actually the last coach to get Kew to finals if I recall but of the radar I thought for a few years now) but I am not sure they have anything else do they, so lets talk about serious contenders. Can we not talk about teams like St Bedes who had some Internationals last year and no doubt will look to have a crack, or Monash who have been always unlucky come end of the season, players love the coach and I have no doubt they will be amongst it this year. But lets be serious apart from maybe 3 to 4 teams would anyone actually go and watch the bottom end of this comp?

Vic League 1 - Top 2 Kew and West Vic
Bottom tier Gippsland and MPHC

Vic League 2 - Top 4 Old Xavs, Werribee, CV Blazers and Monash
Bottom tier Bayside and Old Melburnians (another Brunswick ex coach in this grade I just noticed)

VL1 - Kew will be team to beat as long as they can handle the pressure with Casey still there. Frankston will not make finals and finish bottom four. LaTrobe cant defend so will give up goals. Think WestVic as they have massive home ground advantage with sympathetic umpires and able to mike up players during games and i will say Brunswick are a real dark horse with a few players back and solid coach.

VL2 - Knox will struggle as there coach has one style of play and that's is attack up right hand side of pitch and anyone who stops this and gets ball out to other side will punish them. Bayside are an intresting one. They seem to be causing alot of intrest. There home ground is in brighton. They signed a PA GK from southern there GKs from season insure if they are there. 2 new players plus a new coach. They must be doing something right for them to be discussed quite abit so I'd give them a go but the leaders will be werribee and CV blazers

Poor showing on the weekend from them, looked a little weak against a very under strength PEGS side and their reserves got mauled by PEGS Reserves with C Ashton scoring both their goals after playing their 1s game.

Has Geelong got any of their players returing this year? I think Frankston will be a contender for the flag this year closely followed by Casey and KBH

Clearly you haven't been around your club much over the past few weeks.

VL2 practice matches seems interesting, St Bedes where 4-2 up against Werribee and look like a top chance in VL2 this year, young quick and skilful has been the words used to describe St Bedes.

I think Gippsland will be the real dark horse in VL1.
They cruised through VL2 last year without even breaking a sweat. They have talented young forwards who will only get better in time.
In VL2 I think it will be interesting to see if Old Xavs will be consistent enough to get over the top tier and move back up.
Old Melburnians might have some momentum with a handy corner specialist.
